Engagement
In the fall of 2016, Diameter Health engaged ST Advisors to help the company prioritize its future market opportunities. At a crossroads, Diameter had the opportunity to sell its products in multiple target markets, but the start-up had limited resources, and senior management sought guidance on how to best focus its efforts.
We began the engagement by identifying industry leaders in each of the highlighted target markets and then conducted interviews with content experts to help guide our analysis. (To ensure we had adequate data for a comprehensive analysis, we conducted almost twice the agreed-upon number of interviews.) ST Advisors then conducted a thorough competitive analysis encompassing six different vendor segments, which served as the basis for a review of Diameter’s overall competitive positioning and allowed for the identification of potential vendor partners. Using high-level market constructs, ST Advisors also estimated Diameter’s annual revenue potential for each target market.
Results
Using the gathered market intelligence, we evaluated each of the target markets in terms of opportunity time horizon, revenue potential, desire for and current access to patient clinical data, length of sales cycle, competitive landscape, and key risks. The final deliverable highlighted our strategic recommendations on segment priorities, potential high-value vendor partnerships, and actions that would maximize the likelihood of success. Our work served as the foundation for Diameter’s go-forward strategy.
